Datasensing S5N Series
The S5N Series represents an extended βone-for-allβ M18 tubular sensor family, designed to cover a wide spectrum of detection needs within a single product line. With all optic functions in one housing, improved immunity to EMI/ambient light, selectable outputs, and compact M18 mounting, the series delivers flexible object detection, industrial robustness, and simplified inventory and installation.
Design & Functionality
- The series uses a M18 Γ 1 cylindrical housing, compatible with standard industrial mounting and offering plastic, metal or stainless-steel variants for different environmental demands.
- Thanks to the βone-for-allβ concept, it supports diffuse reflection, retro-reflective, polarised retro-reflective, through-beam, fixed-focus, and even laser-emission variants β allowing you to select the appropriate optic type for your application while maintaining a consistent housing form-factor.
- Many models offer sensitivity adjustment (trimmer) and wide nominal sensing distances β for example, one diffuse model achieves ~700 mm; a retro-reflective model ~2.5 m; through-beam or laser variants up to ~25 m depending on type.
- Output types include 4-wire cable or M12 connector, selectable NO/NC, NPN or PNP, with additional features like IO-Link V1.1 compatibility for smart sensor connectivity.
- Industrial-grade protection: Housing variants offer IP67 (and even IP69K for stainless types), full electrical protections (reverse-polarity, short-circuit auto-reset, over-voltage) and high mechanical stability.
Total Crossed Beams
(In this tubular sensor context, this concept is interpreted as a stable detection path and complete sensing coverage rather than literal optical crossed beams.)
- The S5N Series maintains a consistent detection field across its wide range of optic variants β whether the application is diffuse, retro-reflective or through-beam. This means fewer missed detections and more reliable performance in automation systems.
- This robust and consistent sensing behaviour is particularly valuable when mounting constraints, background variability or target movement exist.
Beam Pitch Options
(Here interpreted as selectable sensing-distance / variant options rather than literal beam spacing.)
- For example: a diffuse-reflection model has a nominal sensing distance of ~700 mm on a white Kodak target.
- A retro-reflective model may reach ~2.5 m nominal distance.
- Through-beam or laser emission variants deliver distances up to ~25 m depending on the model.
- These varied options allow you to choose a variant tailored to your target size, mounting clearance, background reflectivity and required detection span β offering design flexibility.
Intrinsic Synchronism
- The electronics are self-contained without need for external synchronising wiring or modules β simplifying installation and wiring.
- With advanced ASIC and improved ambient-light immunity, the S5N Series supports demanding environments and faster Commissioning.
Operational Advantages
- Wide optic versatility in one family: A single product line covers diffuse, retro-reflective, through-beam, fixed-focus and laser types β reducing inventory and simplifying system design.
- Compact and rugged housing: M18 size with plastic/metal/inox variants, IP67 protection (and higher), selectable output and connection types make it suitable for varied industrial mounting.
- Flexibility and performance: With sensitivity adjustment, selectable outputs, IO-Link connectivity, and long sensing distances available, this series adapts to many automation tasks.
- Applications: Ideal for packaging lines, conveyor part detection, intralogistics, automated warehousing, ceramics, general manufacturing, where modular mounting, flexible detection modes, and industrial robustness are required.
