Datasensing AS1 Series

The AS1 Series area sensors provide precise area monitoring using a crossed-beam optical design. Unlike single-point sensors, these monitor an entire vertical detection zoneβ€”ensuring consistent detection of objects regardless of their position, shape or orientation.

Design & Functionality

With a controlled height of 100 mm, the AS1 series is built in a slim housing and designed to integrate into automated machinery and conveyor systems with limited space. The series features a beam-matrix setup, selectable scan modes and a power/trimmer adjustment, enabling optimization of resolution versus response time.

Crossed-Beam Architecture & High Resolution

  • The optical array comprises multiple rays (for example 16 beams in high-resolution models) covering the 100 mm height.
  • Minimum detectable object size is extremely small: flat object thickness down to ~0.2 mm (depending on model and mode) and cylindrical objects down to ~Ø 6 mm for high-resolution variants.
  • Nominal sensing distances: e.g., 0.3…2 m standard, up to ~3 m on high-distance models
  • Adjustment features (trimmer) allow fine-tuning of emission power, improving performance in reflective or high-interference environments.
