The DS4 Base Series delivers robust detection and measurement across industrial areas using a dense crossed beam architecture. Unlike simple point sensors, these area sensors continuously monitor an entire detection plane—ensuring reliable recognition of objects regardless of their orientation, position or transparency.

Design & Functionality

The DS4 Base series is engineered for flexibility and ease of installation in industrial automation systems. Detection heights begin at approximately 300 mm and extend up to 1500 mm (and higher in extended models). Beam pitches are selectable at 5 mm, 10 mm or 25 mm, allowing the user to tailor resolution and coverage according to application needs. Sensing distances reach up to 13 m in favorable conditions.

Crossed-Beam Architecture & Measurement

• Utilises a crossed beam matrix to enable both presence detection and dimensional measurement.
• Fine beam spacing models (5 mm) enable detection of very small objects or thin items down to ~3.5 mm in certain variants.
• Extended aperture size models (height up to 1500 mm or more) support large-scale area monitoring or measurement across wide conveyors.
• Versions support both detection and measurement tasks thanks to interpolation algorithms embedded in the sensor family.
• Options include IO-Link configuration and wireless input of parameters for advanced diagnostics and management.
