Datasensing MS-MP Series

The MS-MP Series offers a versatile family of photoelectric sensors in the M18 housing format, engineered to address a wide array of detection tasks—from background suppression, diffuse reflection, retro-reflective to through-beam configurations. With flexible output selection, high switching speed, and robust industrial construction, this series provides reliable object detection, quick integration, and industrial-grade durability in automation, packaging and material-handling applications.

Design & Functionality

  • The series uses an M18 × 1 cylindrical housing, providing standard industrial fit and mounting flexibility.
  • The DECOUT® output allows selectable NPN/PNP and NO/NC configurations, making the sensor highly adaptable to different control systems.
  • Typical background-suppression (BGS) models offer a nominal sensing distance of about 100 mm (white target) with repeat accuracy ~5% and thermal drift ≤ 10%.
  • Switching frequency up to 1 kHz and response time ~500 µs enable fast object detection in dynamic environments.
  • Protection rating: IP67, with full electrical protection (reverse-polarity, short-circuit auto-reset, impulse overvoltage), enabling use in harsh industrial environments.
  • Variety of optical configurations: radial or axial optics, metal or plastic housing, cable or M12 connector options, making it suitable for many mounting and environmental demands.

Total Crossed Beams

(In this context, this term is used to indicate a stable, consistent detection field—rather than literal “crossed beams.”)

  • The MS-MP Series maintains a consistent and reliable sensing field, even in situations with variable backgrounds or part presentation, reducing false positives and missed detections.
  • This enables higher detection reliability in fast-moving conveyor systems, packaging lines and automation machines.

Beam Pitch Options

(Here interpreted as selectable sensing-mode and distance variants, rather than literal beam spacing.)

  • Background-suppression (BGS) models: ~100 mm nominal sensing distance (white target) with fixed distance—suitable for objects in front of reflective or metallic backgrounds.
  • Diffuse-reflection models: up to ~400 mm sensing distance in some variants.
  • Through-beam / long-range receiver models: some variants reach sensing distances up to ~32 m (depending on model).
  • These variant options allow you to choose the model matching your target size, mounting clearance, background conditions and automation speed—offering flexibility in system design.

Intrinsic Synchronism

  • The electronics are integrated: no external synchronisation wiring is required—installation is simplified and robust.
  • Startup delay (time before availability) ≤ 200 ms, meaning the sensor is ready quickly after power-up—beneficial in dynamic automation lines.

Operational Advantages

  • Highly adaptable output and optic options: With DECOUT®, selectable outputs, optical variants and housing types, the MS-MP Series fits into numerous automation systems without major redesign.
  • Fast detection & high dynamics: With switching frequency up to 1 kHz and response around 500 µs, the sensor can cope with fast conveyor parts, high-speed sorting and rapid automation processes.
  • Industrial robustness: IP67 protection, full electrical shielding and mechanical flexibility ensure the sensor performs reliably even in dusty, wet or mechanically challenging manufacturing environments.
  • Applications: Ideal for object-presence detection on conveyors, packaging lines, material-handling systems, robotics feeders, intralogistics and automation setups where background suppression, flexible output selection, high speed, and industrial reliability are key.
