Datasensing TL46 Series
The TL46 Series provides a premium family of contrast sensors, engineered for high-precision registration mark detection, high-speed switching, and industrial robustness. With a nominal sensing distance of ~12 mm (typical) and spot dimensions as small as ~1.5 Γ 5 mm, the series supports switching frequencies from ~10 kHz up to ~70 kHz and jitter times down to ~3 ΞΌs β delivering exceptional detection reliability, minimal delay, and superior repeatability.
Design & Functionality
- The sensors feature a rugged metal/aluminium housing (approx. 32 Γ 60 Γ 82 mm) with M12 connector, rotatable to 5 positions β making mechanical integration and alignment easier.
- Optical and performance highlights include:
β’ Wide-spectrum RGB or white LED emission enabling improved detection of colored registration marks and contrast changes.
β’ Ultra-fast switching: models up to ~70 kHz switching frequency for the highest throughput applications.
β’ Ultra-low jitter: certain low-jitter versions offer response times down to ~3 Β΅s for extremely precise mark detection.
β’ Spot dimension as small as ~1.5 Γ 5 mm on standard models, enabling precise detection of fine marks. - Logic & outputs: Selectable NPN/PNP or analog output (0β5 V) depending on model; Dark/Light selectable; some models include IO-Link connectivity for smart sensor functions.
- Protection & environment: Rated IP67, robust against dust and splash in industrial printing and packaging environments. Operating temperature typically from -10 Β°C up to +55 Β°C.
Total Crossed Beams
(Interpreted here as ensuring full detection reliability across the sensing field rather than literal crossed optical beams.)
- The TL46 ensures a stable detection zone even at very high speeds and minimal signal variance β resulting in fewer missed mark detections, higher repeatability, and improved process reliability.
- Its combination of small-spot optics, wide-spectrum LED emission, ultra-fast switching and low jitter make it particularly suitable for high-precision printing, label registration, film tracking, packaging lines and other applications where accuracy, speed, and repeatability are critical.
Beam Pitch Options
(Here interpreted as variant options regarding switching frequency / optics rather than literal beam spacing.)
- Example variant: Standard switching up to ~15-20 kHz for general contrast detection tasks.
- Example variant: High-speed/low-jitter models offering up to ~70 kHz switching and jitter down to ~3 Β΅s for ultra-high-speed processes.
- These variant options allow you to select a TL46 model that matches your mark size, mounting distance, speed requirements and control logic β providing design flexibility.
Intrinsic Synchronism
- The optics, electronics and output logic are fully integrated within the robust housing β no external synchronisation modules required β simplifying wiring and reducing installation complexity.
- With built-in push-buttons or trimmers, status indicators (output LED, bar-graph or 4-digit display in enhanced models) the TL46 series supports fast commissioning, easy adjustment, and enhanced diagnostics.
Operational Advantages
- High-speed registration mark detection: With switching frequencies up to ~70 kHz and jitter down to ~3 Β΅s, the TL46 handles demanding printing and packaging speeds.
- Small-spot precision & color-spectrum emission: Spot sizes ~1.5 Γ 5 mm combined with RGB/white LED emission deliver superior mark contrast detection and tolerance to target variation.
- Flexible logic integration: Selectable NPN/PNP/analog outputs, IO-Link options (depending on model) and rotatable M12 connector simplify integration into control systems.
- Industrial robustness: Metal housing, IP67 protection, durable optics and standard mounting ensure reliability in challenging environments.
- Applications: Ideal for colored registration mark detection, label and film tracking, packaging registration on high-speed machines, printing press cut-mark detection, web-handling mark verification β where precision, speed, and compact integration are required.
