Datasensing IL5 Series

The IL5 Series provides precision metal detection in the smallest possible footprint: a 5 × 5 × 25 mm cubic housing. Designed for ultra-compact installations where space is at a premium, it offers very short sensing distance, high switching frequency, and industrial-grade robustness.

Design & Functionality

  • The series uses a 5 × 5 × 25 mm stainless steel (AISI 303) housing, enabling mounting in extremely tight spaces and on miniature equipment. 
  • Offered in nominal sensing distances of approximately 0.8 mm (standard target 5 × 5 mm FE360) for ultra-compact flush mounting, and 1.5 mm for extended versions — enabling detection of very small metal parts in close proximity. 
  • Equipped with high-performance electronics: repeat accuracy < 5%, thermal drift < 10%, switching frequency up to ~7 kHz — delivering rapid, stable detection in dynamic automation scenarios. 1
  • Completed with full protection electronics including reverse‐polarity protection, short-circuit auto‐reset, and impulsive over-voltage protection — ensuring industrial-grade reliability despite compact size.

  • The IL5 Series ensures a uniform sensing zone, which means even in miniature form factor, the detection field remains reliable and less impacted by slight target misalignment or background metal.

Beam Pitch Options

(Here interpreted as selectable sensing distances given mounting style rather than literal beam pitch.)

  • Standard version: ~0.8 mm nominal sensing distance (flush mount) — minimal clearance needed. 
  • Long-distance version: ~1.5 mm nominal — offers a little more clearance for slightly larger parts or less ideal mounting. 
  • With correction factors for different target metals (e.g., copper ~0.37, aluminium ~0.27, brass ~0.40, stainless steel ~0.61) the sensor can be tuned or selected to suit specific target materials. 

Intrinsic Synchronism

  • The electronics integrate timing, filtering and protective functionality — no external synchronising wiring required.
  • Time before availability (after power up) is ≤ 50 ms, facilitating quick system readiness in tight-space automation equipment.
