Datasensing IL1 Series
The IL1 Series delivers miniaturised metal-object detection in a compact cubic housing, engineered for applications in intralogistics, end-of-line packaging, conveyor lines and AMR/AGV systems where space is at a premium. With very small form-factor, industrial-grade protection, and reliable detection performance, these sensors provide high-density mounting and precise metal-part sensing in constrained environments.
Design & Functionality
- The series features a 10 × 28 × 16 mm cubic body, enabling installation in tight mechanical spaces and enabling close-packed sensor arrays.
- Operates at a supply voltage of 10…30 V DC, with a maximum output current of 300 mA, providing flexibility for integration into standard automation systems.
- Equipped with a yellow LED status indicator, allowing quick visual diagnostics during installation and maintenance.
- Housing rated at IP67 protection, ensuring durability in dusty or conveyor-line environments typical of intralogistics.
- Detection variants:
- Nominal sensing distance ~3 mm for flush-mount models (shielded) with standard target 12×12 mm FE360.
- Nominal sensing distance ~6 mm for non-flush models (unshielded) with standard target 18×18 mm FE360.
- Correction factors for target metals indicate: copper ~0.25-0.41, aluminium ~0.28-0.50, brass ~0.37-0.55, stainless steel ~0.63-0.75—highlighting the sensor’s material-specific tuning capability.
- High switching frequency (~3 kHz) supports fast motion detection in conveyor or sorting systems.
Total Crossed Beams
(In the context of this inductive sensor family, this concept refers to a stable detection field across the sensor face, rather than literal optical beams.)
- The IL1 Series maintains a consistent sensing zone, even in ultra-compact form factor, which means reliable detection even when targets are slightly misaligned or mounting clearance is tight.
- This ensures high repeatability (< 5%) and minimizes missed detections in compact conveyor/AMR systems.
Beam Pitch Options
(Here interpreted as selectable sensing distances and mounting styles rather than literal “beam pitch.”)
- The flush (shielded) variant offers ~3 mm nominal sensing distance; the unshielded variant offers ~6 mm nominal sensing distance—giving design flexibility depending on mounting clearance and background metal present.
- High repeat accuracy and stable detection across temperature variances (< 10% thermal drift) ensure reliable performance in intralogistics environments.
Intrinsic Synchronism
- Built-in electronics include reverse-polarity protection, short-circuit auto-reset, ripple tolerance (≤ 10%) and a time-before-availability ≤ 100 ms—making the sensor ready quickly after power-up.
- No external synchronisation wiring needed—installation is straightforward even in dense sensor arrays.
Operational Advantages
- Miniature footprint for tight spaces: With the 10 × 28 × 16 mm size, these sensors fit where cylindrical sensors cannot, enabling high-density mounting and compact system design.
- Industrial-grade protection & performance: IP67 rating, robust electronics and material-correction capability make them suitable for conveyor, AMR/AGV, intralogistics and warehousing lines.
- Flexible detection distance options: Offering both ~3 mm and ~6 mm nominal ranges, the IL1 Series adapts to either minimal clearance installations or slightly larger target detection zones.
- Applications: Ideal for end-of-line sorting, pallet conveyors, AGV detection, dense sensor arrays for part detection in intralogistics, packaging transfer stations—especially where compact space, metal-part presence, and industrial-reliability are required.
