Datasensing FC4 Series

The FC4 Series introduces a robust family of slot (fork) photoelectric sensors with four optical beams arranged for enhanced detection reliability in applications like belt tracking, edge alignment, web monitoring and high-speed packaging.

With a dedicated alarm output plus two static complementary PNP outputs, the FC4 ensures precise alignment feedback, quick anomaly detection, and excellent performance in industrial environments.

Design & Functionality

  • The FC4 sensor houses four emitter/receiver beams inside a U-shaped slot, enabling simultaneous multi-light-path monitoring for accurate web or belt alignment.
  • Key features include:
    β€’ Dual complementary PNP static outputs to drive two independent signal channels for dark/light or alignment status. 
    β€’ Alarm contact output (1 A, 30 Vdc) for advanced alarm signalling when edge deviation occurs. 
    β€’ High switching frequency of up to 100 Hz (1/1 dark-light) with optical scanning period of 600 Β΅s for fast moving web detection. 
    β€’ Compact and rugged housing (26.4 Γ— 83 Γ— 162 mm) with PC material, IP67 protection, suitable for industrial environments. 
    β€’ High immunity to ambient light (10,000 lux) and capability to sense one sheet of 80 g/mΒ² white paper as minimum target. 
  • The FC4 is optimized for edge detection, web alignment, belt tracking and alignment tasks where multiple beams provide improved reliability and early fault detection.

   Important: The FC4 Series uses four-beam sensing and includes an alarm output, making it highly effective in alignment and tracking applications where standard fork sensors may struggle.

  • The four optical beams create a broad detection zone inside the fork, ensuring coverage even when the material moves or vibrates.
  • This yields high repeatability, fewer missed detections and better long-term stability in demanding machine environments.

Beam Pitch Options

  • The FC4 fork slot sensor features fixed beam geometry: beam angle Β±15Β°, optics diameter 3 mm. 
  • With four beams and multiple outputs, the FC4 is tailored for applications where higher resolution of edge or belt deviation detection is required.

 Important: The four-beam arrangement allows the FC4 to detect very subtle misalignments or edge shifts that single-beam forks cannot reliably capture.

Intrinsic Synchronism

  • With built-in emitter/receiver beams and internal optical scan cycle (600 Β΅s), the FC4 ensures synchronised multi-beam detection without external components. 
  • Ideal for high-speed installations where multiple beams must be scanned reliably in real time.
